Forest Pines

Following a successful tour of newly acquired sites, Q Hotels Director of Design Trudi Purtill invited RCA to visit the prestigious resort hotel of Forest Pines.
Following major development on the site, the existing Reception,Restaurant, Bar and lounge had been left behind. Looking tired and dated it was now the poor relation and required a complete make over.
The Forest Pines Manager Chris Cottam, an extremely assured and forward thinking manager, out-lined to us his vision for the refurbishment of the public areas.
The key strategy was to create a stand alone Restaurant. 20 miles from the North Sea fishing port of Grimsby, the hotel was going to have its own fish restaurant, not just an add-on to the hotel facilities but a restaurant with its own identity and a high street entrance.
We used the existing spaces creating a new shop front, with market stall displays, signage and a strong identity. A real destination venue for this area of the country.
The public spaces where designed around visitors requirements to have a mix of casual meeting spaces, work stations and all day Lounge areas, together with the “19th hole” lounge bar.
Suffice to say the finished areas not only compliment the new Leisure and Conference facilities but have gone beyond the Clients expectations, creating a truly outstanding space.
